TRENDING Ravens look ugly on 'TNF' LSU women break D-I record Week 9 fantasy sleepers NFL trade deadline buzz Ranking NBA rookie phenoms Story by Story by WNBA legend makes outrageous claim about Caitlin Clark & Sophie Cunningham’s looks Bujade Akinjo · The Big Lead Fri, November 6, 2026 at 7:32 PM UTC · 2 min read About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Angel McCoughtry built a Hall of Fame-caliber career over 11 WNBA seasons, highlighted by five All-Star selections and two Olympic gold medals. These days, the retired forward spends much of her time offering opinions on the league's current stars, and her latest comments have sparked plenty of reaction.
Appearing on the "Get to the Point" podcast with Terrell Owens and Chris Spencer, McCoughtry argued that marketability in the WNBA depends on more than just performance on the court. Her example centered on the gap in attention between two Indiana Fever players.

McCoughtry said she recently attended a conference where she tested the crowd's knowledge of the Fever roster.
"Everybody loved Indiana, they love Caitlin Clark," McCoughtry said. "I said, 'How many of you know Kelsey Mitchell?' None of them raised their hand. She's the best player on that team."
Owens asked directly whether McCoughtry was suggesting Clark's popularity ties to her looks. McCoughtry declined to answer that directly.

McCoughtry instead turned her argument toward Sophie Cunningham , noting her Adidas shoe deal despite averaging 7.9 points per game this season.
"Yes, looks play a part. They play a big part," McCoughtry said, contrasting Cunningham's endorsement profile with other players she considers more accomplished on the court.
Mitchell, meanwhile, averaged 25.0 points per game this season and has emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate alongside Clark, according to Fever teammates.
