A24 Thought you knew everything about the scandalous case of Theranos’s polarizing founder and CEO, Elizabeth Holmes ? Think again. A24 dropped a full, unfiltered look at her in the days leading up to her 11-year prison sentence, and it’s now available for everyone to watch.

Directed and produced by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim (who also directed A24’s How to Catch a Predator -inspired flick, Primetime ), You Can See Everything depicts Holmes’s home and family life before she officially surrendered to federal prison in 2023.

The thought of spending 24 hours with Holmes is chill-inducing—and Nathan managed to do so for nearly a month.

Here’s your full guide to A24’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary, You Can See Everything .

A24’s Elizabeth Holmes doc was released in theaters nationwide starting Friday, October 16.

Nathan Fielder stayed in Elizabeth Holmes’ home for a little over a month before she started her 11-year prison sentence to capture and surveil her day-to-day life.

Elizabeth Holmes officially began her prison sentence on May 30, 2023, and the film’s marketing materials claim Nathan, Lance, and their crews stayed with her for 34 days leading up to her imprisonment. If the math is mathing, that means they likely started filming in her home on May 6, 2023.

And, according to the synopsis above, the doc “becomes a mind-bending three-year journey into the abyss,” so…there’s probably some virtual footage or phone calls included, since the Federal Bureau of Prisons bans private. If that’s the case, filming probably doesn’t fly, either.

Yep. After the film’s teaser trailer went viral, A24 dropped a full-length trailer on September 23.

Elizabeth Holmes, the founder and CEO of the failed blood-testing company Theranos, was on top of the world before she was indicted in June 2018. After prosecutors accused her of lying to investors about what Theranos’ technology could actually do, Holmes was charged with nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. She was found guilty of defrauding investors in 2022 and sentenced to 11 years and three months in federal prison, per the Department of Justice .

She began serving her federal prison sentence in May 2023 and is still there. Per ABC News , she’s scheduled to be placed in a halfway house at the Austin Transitional Center in Del Valle, Texas, on August 23, 2027.

Her case became one of Silicon Valley’s most infamous fraud scandals and has inspired books, TV projects, and documentaries like The Dropout and You Can See Everything.

Surprisingly, yes. She released a cryptic message from prison after the trailer for You Can See Everything dropped on September 28, in which she gave a shoutout to her fiancé, Billy Evans.

“I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life,” she wrote, in part.

She continued, “I have now been imprisoned for 1,216 endless days and nights. During that time, as we fight for freedom, my loved ones have helped manage my account. Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me. He fights fiercely for me and our family. I love him beyond space and time... I am profoundly grateful for the support we receive as we fight to expose the truth and challenge deeply entrenched perceptions.”

The film’s directors, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, took part in a Q&A to premiere You Can See Everything at the New York Film Festival on Wednesday, September 30. Without giving too much away, Nathan spoke about his experience staying with Holmes and her family.

“When I met her, I remember having this weird experience where she seems so genuine at times. But then I’m like, ‘no,’ and clocking and tracking my thoughts and being like, ‘Okay, I know she’s a liar.’ It was a weird mental thing. From there, we were like, ‘Can we roll the dice on something if they were open to having cameras in?’” he explained, per Variety .

He continued, “It wasn’t until we started shooting that moments would happen—some of them are in the film—and then after Lance and I would talk about what we thought happened there. We’d completely disagree on what something meant to us and what we thought was happening. Then we were like, ‘Oh, this is really interesting. If we can’t agree on what’s happening, there’s something here.’ And our curiosity sort of just like drove us from there.”
