Enes Kanter just won't let this WNBA thing die. Ever since claiming he wanted in on the league, he's turned it into a full-blown media tour, jumping on every podcast, cable news hit, and radio show.
But things got properly messy when he took the stunt straight to the arena. Showing up courtside at the WNBA finals ended with security stepping in and hauling him right out of the building.
What started as an online headline has turned into an awkward, dragged-out spectacle that's wearing thin on just about everyone.
A recent YouGov survey conducted with The Bulwark and Pablo Torre Finds Out revealed that Enes Kanter's self-declared WNBA campaign largely backfired with the American public.
Polling 1,417 U.S. adults about Freedom's move to protest transgender-inclusion policies by claiming eligibility for the women's league, the numbers show clear pushback.
Nearly half of respondents, 47%, disapproved of his actions, with a whopping 36% strongly disapproving. By contrast, only 30% approved overall, evenly split at 15% each for strongly and somewhat approving.
Another 23% remained unsure, but the takeaway is obvious, while the outspoken former NBA big man definitely succeeded at stirring the pot, his stunt failed to rally mainstream sports fans to his corner.
