Kinzang Lhamo may have finished last in the women's marathon, but the scenes surrounding her crossing the finish line in Paris will live long in the memory. The Bhutanese runner is the only female athlete to feature in her country's delegation at the 2024 games and served as the country's flag bearer in the opening ceremony. Amid scorching heat in Paris, Lhamo was reduced to walking on several occasions as she fell well behind the pack.
